Scientific Computing World is hosting a private, not-for-broadcast roundtable for scientists and data managers using mass spectrometry in drug discovery and development.

Following the success of our previous roundtables, during which research leaders exchanged ideas on data issues and how they are overcoming them, this intimate session (limited to 6–8 participants) will focus on challenges and insights in areas such as proteomics, mRNA, and large molecule research.

Questions we plan to address include:

  • What are the current challenges in the management and sharing of data generated by mass spectrometry?
  • What do you understand by ‘data sharing’ in your organisation? How are you connecting your various data sources?
  • What data strategies do you have in place, particularly when combining data sets and formats?
  • To what extent is your organisation set up to adopt FAIR principles for this?
  • To what extent are you able to interrogate large data sets for insights (as opposed to looking at individual data sets)?
  • What role does AI/ML play in this?
  • What level of groundwork is required to implement AI/ML use in this field? Any fears or barriers in doing this?
  • Other than AI/ML, what other emerging technologies or tools are likely to be most beneficial to your research in the future?
  • What features or functions of data management tools would provide the greatest benefit to your research, or how could existing tools be improved?

Who should attend?

Users and managers of mass spectrometry in life sciences, drug discovery or drug development, particularly pharma, biopharma, biotechnology, such as:
Project, programme and research group leaders, Principal scientists and lab managers, Senior R&D IT experts/consultants/digital transformation leaders.

Places are strictly limited, so to apply for a place, please email the session moderator Warren Clark at warren.clark@europascience.com.

The roundtable is expected to take place in late May, or early June, and is being run in partnership with Thermo Fisher.
