Accelrys has named Scipio 'Max' Carnecchia as the company's chief executive officer and president. Carnecchia has also been appointed to the company's board of directors.
Carnecchia comes to Accelrys with more than two decades of high technology experience. Most recently he served as president of Interwoven, a global leader in content management solutions. At Interwoven, he ran the day-to-day operations of the business and led the company through 21 consecutive quarters of year-over-year revenue growth and operating margin expansion. Interwoven was acquired by Autonomy Corporation earlier this year in a transaction valued at approximately $800m.
Todd Johnson, who has served as interim president and chief executive officer since January, will serve as an advisor to Carnecchia for a period of time to assist with the transition.
