Adaptive Computing has announced that it has joined the OpenStack Foundation in order to bring its vast expertise in policy-based optimisation to the OpenStack community, the company says. The OpenStack Foundation aims to provide a set of shared resources to develop the framework of public and private OpenStack clouds, aiding technology vendors targeting the platform and assisting developers in the production of cloud software.
Adaptive Computing’s Moab OpenStack-based solution provides open and flexible policy-based optimisation that enables enterprises to use their existing management tools to automate service performance and cost optimisation for OpenStack-based environments. Moab integrates and extends OpenStack environments with its Web Services plugin architecture, incorporating the data and metrics of other trusted tools to drive more accurate policy-based optimisation and automation to the cloud. Enterprises can avoid any vendor lock-in that limits performance of their cloud or software licensing savings as they look to utilise lower cost or open-source alternatives.
Adaptive Computing has implemented initial proof of concept OpenStack-based solutions with multiple users, allowing early adopters to experience the benefits of policy-based optimisation in their cloud environments. The company will be demonstrating these capabilities in booth 516 at VMworld US from 25-28 August 2013.
