Dotmatics, a provider of scientific informatics solutions and services, has appointed Dr Rob Brown, from Biovia, Dassault Systèmes (formerly Accelrys), to a newly created position of vice-president of global informatics. He will report to Dotmatics’ global head of commercial operations, Richard Lingard.
Brown is member of the scientific informatics community in longstanding and has an extensive knowledge of informatics enterprise solutions, business trends, and customer needs. He began his career more than 20 years ago at Abbott Laboratories before joining what was then Molecular Simulations (MSI), in 1997, as head of the combinatorial chemistry consortium. In 2002, he moved to Scitegic to lead its cheminformatics marketing. Rob returned to Accelrys when it acquired Scitegic working on its life sciences informatics, including cloud and mobile strategies. Last year, Dassault Systèmes acquired Accelrys and relaunched its informatics and life sciences business as Biovia.
Dr Brown said: ‘There is great change within scientific research, and the innovations that Dotmatics is bringing to the market will help scientists undergo such technological change and progression both efficiently and securely.’
Dotmatics provides solutions to several vertical markets, including the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academia, food and beverage, oil and gas, and agrochemical industries. Its focus ranges from discovery research to development and early manufacturing. Founded in 2005 and headquartered just south of Cambridge in the UK, Dotmatics’ products include database management for chemistry and biologics, electronic laboratory notebooks, chemical and biological registration, screening data management, SAR analysis, reporting, and visualisation.
