E4 Computer Engineering, the Italian manufacturer of HPC environments, has announced that Panasas has begun tests on the E4 ARKA series powered by SECO with ActiveStor – and that, once the tests are carried out, the series will benefit from enhanced power saving and performances.
The company says the high-performance storage is suitable for every system of the E4 ARKA series, powered by SECO based on Nvidia Cuda on ARM platforms. Panasas ActiveStor can be interconnected to all products of the series so that the full potential of Panasas PanFS is utilised at its best on low-power platforms, allowing for simultaneous data distribution to the single computing nodes.
Panasas ActiveStor delivers unmatched parallel file system performance in addition to the scalability, manageability, reliability, and value required by demanding technical computing and big data workloads and, when connected to the ARKA series, will also deliver outstanding throughput performance, a dramatic increase of power saving as well as reducing TCO.
It also represents the first client parallel FS for ARM-based platforms. 'We wanted to be the first ones to provide such an amazing high-performance, low-power solution and we are confident that the collaboration with Panasas will produce stunning results,' said Simone Tinti, HPC team leader of E4 Computer Engineering. 'Thanks to the interconnection with Panasas ActiveStor, our ARKA series will benefits from extra performance at lower costs and any HPC user is going to find it an ideal solution for their workloads.'
'E4 is an essential partner helping to bring Panasas storage technologies to the broader marketplace,' added Barbara Murphy, chief marketing officer at Panasas. 'The fast rate of customer adoption resoundingly affirms that customers are seeing significant performance improvements over their legacy storage systems for mixed workloads with ActiveStor.'
A preview of the E4 ARKA with Panasas ActiveStor solution is being showcased during ISC’13 Leipzig at E4 Computer Engineering's booth, number 267.
