Excelero, a provider of software-defined block storage, has announced the appointment of Sven Breuner as Field Chief Technical Officer (CTO). With more than a decade of experience in the HPC industry, Sven will help expand the capabilities in Excelero’s NVMesh solution by anticipating customers' future requirements while bringing deep technical and product knowledge to the field teams.
‘Excelero is transforming the way that organisations with performance-critical workloads approach NVMe, helping them take full advantage of modern NVMe drives and achieve a significant competitive advantage,’ Breuner said. ‘I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting team and collaborate on a path of further innovation.’
The creation of this new role at Excelero follows two successive record years of 4x revenue growth in FY17 and FY18 resulting from the broad adoption of Excelero NVMesh by major web-scale customers. The NVMesh solution enables shared NVMe across any network, combining the performance of local flash with the convenience of centralised storage, optimal for data analytics and machine learning applications and in media & entertainment post-production and HPC environments.
Sven joins Excelero from ThinkParQ, the company behind the BeeGFS software-defined parallel cluster file system and software-defined solution for scale-out storage, where he served for five years as CTO and CEO. The Germany-based company grew BeeGFS into an acclaimed solution that seamlessly scales and powers everything from small systems up to some of the largest and fastest supercomputing environments both on-premise and in the cloud. Sven began his career at the Fraunhofer Competence Center for High Performance Computing in Germany in 2005, and later led the Fraunhofer BeeGFS development team for several years.
‘Many of our customers run scale-out file systems such as GPFS and BeeGFS on top of NVMesh, which gives Sven an in-depth technical perspective on the needs of Excelero’s target market,’ said Lior Gal, CEO and co-founder of Excelero. ‘His broad expertise in building new and innovative solutions will be invaluable with organisations that look to Excelero for exceptional storage performance with their large-scale workloads. We are delighted to welcome Sven on board.’
