Sapio Sciences has announced that the United States Army Medical Research Institute at Fort Dietrich has selected Sapio's Exemplar LIMS as its laboratory information management solution. USAMRIID uses the Illumina genome analyser and Roche 454 Sequencing Technology in its infectious disease research program.
USAMRIID conducts basic and applied research on biological threats resulting in medical solutions to protect military service members. The organisation is part of the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. The Institute plays a key role as the only laboratory in the Department of Defense (DoD) equipped to safely study highly hazardous infectious agents requiring maximum containment at biosafety level (BSL)-4.
