Premier Biosoft International has released Beacon Designer version 7.7, featuring design support for high resolution melting analysis (HRMA) primers. According to the company, HRMA is an upcoming post-PCR analysis method which has been gaining attention, especially for SNP genotyping for identification of variants, prior to sequencing.
Beacon Designer uses sophisticated algorithms to ensure successful HRMA; primers are designed flanking the SNP of interest to generate the shortest possible amplicons with detectable melting temperature variation. The primers are designed avoiding template secondary structures, assuring efficient primer extension. Beacon Designer also enables analysis of pre-designed or published primers.
