ESTECO is pleased to announce that CD-adapco is making its technology available to participants of the first ESTECO illycaffè Design Competition by offering free STAR-CCM+ demo licenses. Students taking on the engineering challenge will have the opportunity to use to the popular CFD solver and couple it with the ESTECO modeFRONTIER optimization platform to help them design the illy IPERESPRESSO machine of the future.
The contest, launched by ESTECO in partnership with illycaffè, encourages students and teams to design the most innovative water pressurization system capable of guaranteeing the optimal performance of illy Iperespresso capsules while maximizing sustainability in terms of energy consumption. To face this real-world engineering problem, participants can get their hands on the same state-of-the-art software technology as that used by R&D experts from major companies and research centers worldwide and in doing so, acquire new skills and gain insight into the engineering design process.
modeFRONTIER is one of the most widely used process integration and design optimization tools in manufacturing design today for dealing with multidisciplinary problems similar to that proposed in the ESTECO competition. Now, with CD-adapco on board and modeFRONTIER seamlessly integrating with STAR-CCM+, students will be able to incorporate CFD simulations within modeFRONTIER’s versatile collaborative environment and leverage the wide range of advanced features provided by the platform to pinpoint the best possible design.
The winning team can look forward to a trip to EXPO 2015 in Milan, a 1-year modeFRONTIER license (up to three per team) and an illy IPERESPRESSO X7.1 espresso machine.
