Panasas, the leader in hybrid scale-out NAS for enterprise and research environments, today announced it has appointed David Sallak as its new vice president of industry marketing. Sallak will be responsible for driving market penetration of Panasas ActiveStor high-performance storage solutions in all of Panasas’ vertical target markets, with an initial focus on the media and entertainment (M&E) industry.
Sallak brings more than 15 years of experience developing vertical industry markets in the storage business to his new role. He has in-depth knowledge of the M&E industry and the advantages of applying scale-out storage technology solutions with enterprise data services to solve the most demanding workflow challenges in content creation and distribution.
“David’s extensive experience in storage, paired with his keen understanding of the unique business requirements of M&E, make him a great addition to the Panasas team as we expand our focus on vertical industries,” said Jim Donovan, chief marketing officer at Panasas, Inc.
Sallak most recently served as chief technology officer for media & entertainment at EMC Isilon, where he was responsible for leading corporate strategy to drive growth in M&E. While at EMC Isilon, Sallak also held the position of chief strategist for media & entertainment and prior to that, was a senior solutions architect at Isilon Systems.
“I’m excited to join Panasas and look forward to directing the growth of the M&E business as the first of several vertical industry markets,” said Sallak. “Having the right storage solution to accelerate performance and meet ease of management requirements is paramount in M&E, and Panasas is uniquely positioned to meet the extreme demands of production critical workflows."
