Altair Engineering has released the latest version of its computer-aided engineering (CAE) software suite. Heavily enhanced, HyperWorks 11.0 includes the addition of two new software products to the HyperWorks suite: AcuSolve and solidThinking. AcuSolve, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) flow and multi-physics solver, enables engineers to quickly obtain solutions and solve complex mission-critical industrial problems, especially for transient flow and fluid-structure interaction. SolidThinking is a 3D conceptual modelling and visualisation software. The CAE modelling and visualisation environment has been improved by the integration of HyperMesh and HyperView into one desktop framework solution. HyperMesh adds acoustic cavity meshing and extensions to mid-surface algorithms, as well as full 3D visualisations of shell and beam models in the modelling environment.
Improvements have also been made to the Radioss finite element solver, which can perform new analysis types, including response spectrum, complex eigenvalues and pre-stressed normal modes, as well as material and geometric non-linear implicit analysis. It also has an advanced mass-scaling technology and a new multi-domain implementation that increases the speed and accuracy of detailed explicit simulation. Further enhancements have been made to OptiStruct, the design optimisation tool for geometric and material non-linear problems. OptiStruct now adds multi-start point optimisation to avoid becoming locked within a local solution.
