Interactive Supercomputing is to release Version 2.6 of Star-P at SC07. Star-P is an interactive parallel computing platform that enables users to code algorithms and models on their desktops using familiar mathematical software packages, such as Matlab and Python, and run them instantly and interactively on parallel HPCs.
New features include expanded support for the Python language. The software is compatible with Windows Vista, and includes hundreds of new mathematical functions with parallel file I/O.
New system profiling tools optimise application performance. Users can interactively explore the impact of algorithm/code structure, data distributions, profile performance of processors, memory, cache and interconnects. Expanded support for workload managers such as SunGrid, Torque, and Lava, eases its deployment at large supercomputing centres.
