Stat-Ease has released Design-Expert 7.0, the software for statistical design of experiments (DOE). This major new release is designed for engineers, researchers, quality professionals, Six Sigma practitioners, or other experimenters. With Design-Expert 7.0 (DX7) software users can make discoveries that lead to breakthrough improvements in product quality and process efficiency, resulting in more sales, greater customer satisfaction, and reduced costs. DX7 makes it easy to screen for important factors, identify ideal process settings, and find optimal product formulations.
Intuitive enough for beginners to use, but with plenty of power for statisticians, DX7 offers dozens of new features for design and analysis of experiments. Minimum-run (Min-Run) two-level factorial designs allow users to screen for main effects with the least number of experimental runs. New analysis tools include the Pareto chart of effects, which allows users to easily see the vital few effects relative to the trivial many. For response surface methods (RSM), central composite designs (CCDs) based on a Min-Run core are very efficient for a larger numbers of factors. Mixture-in-mixture designs are available for sophisticated experiments involving separate formulations that may interact.
Updated RSM graphics offer full-colour graduated or banded contour and 3D surface plots. Lollipop points on the 3D surface graphs show where actual responses were collected. The new crosshairs window allows responses to be predicted at any place on the response surface plot. Improvements to the user interface include a new 'Screen Tips' button with context-sensitive help, tutorial movies, and related internet links. Additional features include design creation tools, enhanced design augmentation ability, analysis capabilities, diagnostic capabilities, more improvements to the user interface, options for design evaluation, and new import/export tools.
