ScaleMP has launched vSMP Foundation Standalone, a virtualisation solution for use on HP ProLiant server blades.
Customers in the HPC market can now take advantage of ScaleMP's powerful and cost-effective virtualisation solutions, benefiting from large shared memory systems, high core count and easier management through single-system configurations. vSMP Foundation Standalone software will allow customers to create a single virtual Symmetrical Multiprocessor (SMP) system with up to 32 sockets (128 cores) and up to 1TB of shared memory in an energy-efficient, dense package.
The combination of vSMP Foundation and HP Cluster Platform Workgroup System built on the HP BladeSystem c3000 enables workgroups and small organisations to deploy high-performance resources outside the data centre, running mixed large memory and parallel workloads. The Workgroup System utilises HP BladeSystem in a small, compact design that delivers up to 1.5 Teraflops, while decreasing power consumption and heat generation. With a single operating system across all blades, the solution dramatically reduces the dependency on central IT.
ScaleMP vSMP Foundation can scale beyond the Workgroup System, with cluster implementations featuring the HP BladeSystem c7000 enclosure. HP BladeSystem is designed to share components between enclosures, making it fast and easy to create, customise and grow in a high-density, power-efficient platform. In conjunction with the HP ProLiant BL460c server blade, these blade systems offer cutting-edge performance for large data centers, as well as midmarket or remote sites.
